Support for Families

Empowering families to reach their full potential.

Our vision is for stronger communities, healthier families and happier childhoods.

To achieve this, we need to ensure that families are supported during difficult times and are given the strategies to manage life’s many up’s and down’s.

Through our Family Support program, we help families who are experiencing crisis; whether it is financial instability, domestic violence, anxiety and depression, adjusting to the demands of parenthood, or caring for children with additional needs.

We provide advocacy, referrals, in-home support, financial aid and supported playgroups. If you are a family in need of support, or if you would like to make a referral, please get in touch.

In Home Support

This program assists families facing challenging circumstances, such as social isolation, single parenthood, anxiety, depression, or the demands of raising children with complex needs.

Families are visited weekly by a trained bestchance Volunteer Support Worker who provides the practical and emotional support needed to manage the demands of parenthood.

Community Support

Our Community Support program is for families experiencing financial instability, low-income single parents, survivors of domestic abuse, or families at risk of homelessness.

We firstly offer the support to meet short-term, immediate needs; such as financial aid, grocery vouchers, transportation costs, or referrals to housing or crisis accommodation.

We then partner with the family to develop strategies and skills for long-term sustainability.

Supported Playgroups

Our Supported Playgroups provide a link between home and the community for caregivers who are isolated or adjusting to the demands of parenting.

A trained facilitator and a team of volunteers provide a developmentally appropriate play program for babies and preschoolers, as well as the emotional support and social connection for caregivers.

Volunteering

Our volunteers represent the willingness of people to contribute to the care of families, children and communities. They donate their time and skills to assist the work we do in their local areas.

Our programs rely on the selflessness of our Volunteers and could not exist without them.  Becoming a Volunteer can be a greatly satisfying experience where you can use your current skills and learn new ones, all while helping local families to thrive.

The team of Bestchance Child and Family support are AMAZING. I cannot stress enough their hard work and dedication they put into their work. They do make a difference with their support in whichever way you need at the time. I am regularly attending their play group which gives me as a mum of two without any other family support outside of her working husband, safe environment for my kids where I can unwind a little, have a cuppa and if possible relax or talk to other mums about daily struggles. I am lucky that my maternal heath nurse recommended me there. I also am in their internal family support program and it has been a wonderful experience for me and I believe it helped me to tip over the edge of postnatal depression and put me back on track so I can again enjoy my kids and life as it is. I am grateful that Bestchance is and I hope it will continue to help others just like is helping me.

My two daughters one age 4 and half years old and the other 3 years old, have been attending the bestchance supportive playgroup for just over 2 years, and they love it, the activity's organized by the amazing staff every Tuesday it is so much fun that they don't want to go home at the end of the session. The fantastic support and help we receive from Rina, Natalie and Vanessa and the beautiful volunteer's WOW couldn't ask for any other better playgroup for any child to attend. Cant thank you enough to these beautiful ladies for making this program a great learning and fun experience for our two daughters.

bestchance was just that. It was the best chance a first time mother of twins could have to successfully navigate through the early challenges of motherhood. The program gave me respite once a week with a volunteer who provided emotional and physical assistance to make my day a little easier.
