3 year old program
Walker Street Kindergarten recognises that commencing kindergarten is an important milestone in your child’s life and often marks one of the first steps towards gaining independence. Together we will endeavour to make the transition from home to kindergarten as smooth as possible, by providing a warm, caring, safe and stimulating learning environment.
The 3 year old program consists of two groups with a maximum of 22 children in the session. Children need to be 3 years old by the 30th April 2020 to be eligible to attend. The groups will undertake 5 hours of kindergarten a week on either Monday 8.30am to 1.30pm or Friday 8.30am to 1.30pm.
Depending on availability there may be an option to purchase an additional 3 year old session and this will be managed through bestchance Central Enrolments.
4 year old program
Walker Street Kindergarten aims to provide a warm, caring, safe and stimulating learning environment designed to meet each child’s developmental needs and utilising the surrounds of Clifton Hill. We offer a diverse range of program experiences with a focus on encouraging our 4 year old children to develop a strong, confident sense of self in preparation for their transition to primary school.
The 4 year old program will consist of a rotational timetable with a maximum of 25 children in each session. Each group will undertake 15 hours of kindergarten a week. Our 4yo Kangaroos will attend on either Tuesday & Wednesday, Tuesday & Thursday or Wednesday & Thursday, from 8:30am to 4:00pm.
Funded kindergarten – Important (please read)
Children are eligible to access a funded kindergarten program of 15 hours per week for 40 weeks (or 600 hours) in the year before school. Prior to enrolment, families with children who are born between 1 January and 30 April are advised to choose carefully whether to start their child in the 4 year old program, as children are only funded for one year of kindergarten before school (unless they are eligible for an Early Start Kindergarten grant or a second year of funded kindergarten). For further information please contact bestchance Central Enrolments.
Below are the current fees for 2019:
4 year old program – $565.00 per term
3 year old program – $545.00 per term (if you wish to purchase the additional 3 year old session the same fees apply and termly this = $1090.00)
Our 4 year old program runs over a rotational timetable for a total of 15 hours per week. The Department of Education and Training (DET) provide per capita funding which is a contribution towards the costs of the 15 hour per week Funded Sessional Kindergarten Program (Year Before School / 4 year old). Income from other sources, primarily kindergarten fees to families, is needed to meet additional costs in the delivery of the program.
There is currently no funding provided for the Unfunded Sessional Programs (2 Years Before School / 3 year old).
**PLEASE NOTE: The fees for 2020 have not yet been determined and families will be notified as soon as fees for 2020 have been set.
Families who are eligible for the Kindergarten Fee Subsidy will not be required to pay term fees – please kindly note that bestchance Central Enrolments will apply this concession to your child’s enrolment upon sighting the relevant documentation.
We will endeavour to offer the program at an affordable fee to parents but at a level that ensures the sustainability and longevity of the kindergarten into the future.
We anticipate that first round offers will be made in Mid- July 2019. Parents will have 2 weeks to respond to their offer. Second round offers will be made 2 weeks after the 1st round offers have been made and processed. Subsequent rounds will follow progressively once responses from the 1st and 2nd round offers have been processed.
