Today marking National Reconciliation Week, our kindergarten decided to celebrate the launch of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) actions and goals with the community.
We were so honoured to have Aunty Pat Ockwell here today to open our RAP launch unveiling. We had Aunty Pat perform a Welcome to Country followed by a smoking ceremony, alongside Jessie Gardiner.
The children were invited to walk through the smoke and place a leaf on top to represent their contribution towards our Reconciliation journey. It was a beautiful experience to be apart of.
Together, we also created an Aboriginal flag with everyone attending leaving their handprint. A big thank you to Aunty Pat Ockwell for visiting our service and sharing your kindness and compassion to our children, teachers and families.
We would also like to thank Sharina Ladharam our Koorie Engagement Support Officer for attending, and Louise Singleton and Andrew Gardiner (Chief Executive Officer) at the Dandenong and District Aboriginal Co-Operative. We are so grateful to have the opportunity to work in a collaborative partnership with you all to ensure our service takes the right steps towards Reconciliation.
