We are proud to announce the appointment of Sarah Gandolfo as the new Centre Coordinator at bestchance Glen Waverley!  Sarah brings with her a wealth of experience in the Early Years field, having held senior roles such as Quality Supervisor and Director in long day care centres, sessional kindergartens and independent schools.

We are confident that Sarah will breathe new life into Glen Waverley as the centre itself undergoes some big and exciting changes!

So let’s get to know Sarah Gandolfo!

How long have you been in the Early Childhood Education & Care industry?

I have worked in the Early Childhood sector for over 15 years and have held a variety of roles.

Why did you choose a career in early childhood?

Being the eldest of four children I, in some ways, fell into early childhood because I spent my late teens volunteering at the kindergarten my siblings attended. From there I got an after school job working at a childcare centre, and the rest is history!

I’ve devoted my entire working life to early childhood, building my skills and knowledge through formal education, and working hard to create the highest quality education and care environments for children.

What are some of the roles you have worked in?

I have worked in almost every role imaginable! I have worked as a co-educator, a team leader, an educational leader, a quality supervisor and as a director in long day care centres, sessional kindergartens and in independent schools.  I love that my career path has been so exciting and varied. I’ve certainly learned a lot!

What is one of your strengths?

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to connect with children. I’m young at heart and love to play, which allows me to very easily get on to a child’s level.

What is your personal teaching philosophy?

My philosophy, for teaching, leading and for life, revolves around love, kindness, equity and family.

What three words would children use to describe you?

Fun, caring and happy.

Tell us about an experience or memory in your career that has made you proud?

Seeing my team of educators grow and develop into confident sector leaders makes me proud. Recently a dear colleague was given an amazing opportunity to create a training video for the Department of Education and Training and it made me incredibly proud to be able to support her in getting to that moment.

What are some of your favourite things to do when you aren’t working?

I love to spend time with my family and I love getting out in nature for bush walks and splashes at the beach. I also love to crochet, read, and have a play in the garden with our dogs, cats and chickens.

Sarah is at Glen Waverley every weekday so if you’re interested in meeting her, taking a tour and discussing your family’s needs for quality child care, get in touch on 1300 224 644!
