Community Support Program
Many individuals and families experience crisis at different times in their lives. For some families it is financial – eviction from their home for rent arrears, a large gas bill, the washing machine breaking down or medical bills. Many families are on a low income and their budget does not allow a safety net in the event of unexpected circumstances. For others it can be an emotional crisis relating to relationship breakdown, isolation or illness in the family.
The Community Support Program aims to support these individuals and families to alleviate the crisis by talking through the key issues, then prioritising and addressing the immediate needs in a proactive client focused manner. However, a key goal of the program is to develop strategies and skills in partnership with our clients, which provides empowerment to manage similar issues in the future.
Support offered through the program

Wishing tree supports families at Christmas, reliving anxiety when the budget is already stretched by providing a gift, which the parents give as their own to their children. With the support of community donations and the wishing tree volunteer team Christmas hampers of festive and staple foods are also given to families in need.
Back to School
Returning to school can be an expensive time for families with the costs associated with new uniforms, school fees, books and stationary. The back to school program is designed to alleviate the financial pressure and reduce anxiety for families by providing limited financial assistance at a period of great financial outlay.
