Today the children of Navy Group celebrated Pyjama Day 19/7/2018. We all enjoy having fun and special days at kinder but there is always a purpose behind our activities and Pyjama Day is no exception. Pyjama Day is celebrated by the community and helps to raise funds for the research into Asthma. Pyjama Day was founded in 2007 by a young girl named Montana who spent a lot of time in hospital due to her asthma. She felt that staying in hospital in her pyjamas wasn’t much fun.
The children were very excited this morning when they walked into kinder with their pyjamas, slippers and dressing gowns. During group time, while we were singing the ‘Good Morning Train’ song, they were asked to stand up, twirl around and show the rest of the group their fabulous sleep wear.
At the end of the song, it was a spontaneous riot of movement, sound and colour when the children leapt up, jumping and twirling and crying out. It was fantastic to see that this didn’t need any prompting!
Later on in the day, in line with the pyjama and sleep theme, Miss Jamie lead the group in two action songs. The first was ‘No More Monkeys Jumping On The Bed’ but instead of three cheeky monkeys, we needed to have twenty-two cheeky monkeys – one for each of the children. The other song was ‘Roll Over, Roll Over’ where the children laid down on the floor and rolled. Again there where twenty-two in the bed when they all rolled over and one fell out!!
Miss Jamie, Miss Maria, Miss Manpreet and Miss Deb would sincerely like to thank those who donated to Pyjama Day and the further research into Asthma. This will be sent to the Asthma Foundation, along with any donations from Red Group.
Thank you to all of our families for their support in this fundraising opportunity.
