The children have been learning about Indigenous cultures and lifeways. They have enjoyed exploring the different tools and materials Indigenous Australian artists utilise in their art, through picture-books and group discussions.
To paint “The Serpent”, the children used some materials collected from the natural environment during our walks along the Bushy Park Trail.
For our sign, the children’s hands were painted with black and red paint, before pressing their hands around our sign. The children connected the colours of their handprints to the Aboriginal flag hanging in our Kindergarten room.
Legend Park Pre-School is excited about being invited to participate in creating an art piece for the ‘Youth Art for Reconciliation’ exhibition. Additionally, we were honoured to be provided with permission for the children to engage with dot painting, which can be seen on the artwork.
