We provide play-based 3 and 4 year old kindergarten programs, where the children can explore and follow their own interests. Creative activities are open-ended, allowing the children to work at their own level.
We value language and music experiences, and playing outdoors. Our curriculum includes a Chinese Language program with a qualified Mandarin-speaking teacher. The children learn to share, to take turns, to consider other people, and to take care of the environment. We welcome parent involvement and work in partnership with you to create the right learning environment your child.
At East Burwood Preschool, we run a Chinese Language program with a qualified Mandarin-speaking teacher. The children then do activities to apply what they have learnt.
We have large indoor and outdoor play spaces so that children have plenty of room to move and explore. Our curriculum supports social, emotional, cognitive, physical, technological and creative learning.
At East Burwood Preschool, we are proud to provide a multicultural curriculum, which includes celebrating a variety of cultural events and holidays throughout the year.
Excursions are a key part of East Burwood Preschool’s curriculum. Venturing out into the local area allows children to explore the world around them, and feel a part of a community.
At East Burwood Preschool, we are very conscious of keeping our staff and children safe in the sun; therefore we are official participants in the SunSmart program.
Our goal is to partner with families to help foster the development of happy, confident, resilient children who enjoy learning and love exploring, relating and engaging in our world.
4 year old Teacher
I have my Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood) I.E.C.D. Bachelor of Education (Melbourne University) and Master of Education (Special Educational Needs) Deakin.
I have been working at East Burwood Preschool since 2012. I love teaching, and have many years’ experience in the Early Childhood sector. I love to share stories and music with the children, and to create interesting areas for dramatic play. The thing I like most about teaching children is discovering how competent they are, and how much they can surprise you. I also highly value the opportunity to work with families to create the best outcomes for their children. In the last few years I have enjoyed extending my teaching to university level, and sharing my experiences to help new teachers learn more about teaching.
Away from work, I love to spend time with my four adult children, their partners, and 3 delightful grandchildren. I love to do patchwork, cross-stitch and scrapbooking. More active past-times include line dancing, bushwalking and gardening.
3 year old
I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Deakin) and Graduate Diploma Education (Early Childhood) RMIT
I have been working as an Educator and Teacher in Kindergartens since 2015. I commenced working at East Burwood Preschool in 2020.
Early Years education is important to me because it provides the opportunity to extend a child’s knowledge of themselves, their world and those around them. They become more resilient, independent and curious as their learning journey unfolds. Having the opportunity to be a part of this growth is very rewarding and why I love being an Early Childhood teacher.
Outside of teaching, my time is spent with my family which includes my husband Matt, my two teenaged children, and my dog Wally. I also enjoy working in the garden, growing different types of fruit and vegetables, and sitting in the sunshine reading.
Diploma Qualified educator
My name is Mimy and I am from India. My qualification is Diploma in Early Childhood Education Care & Services. I began working at East Burwood Preschool as a Diploma qualified Educator in 2020.
I am very passionate about whatever I do. I am a mother of two children. I will always ensure safe respectful relationships and a secure environment for children.
I love the opportunity for learning beyond walls, and how the children don’t feel limited by their surroundings. I love music and love doing music and movement with children.
Diploma qualified Educator
I am a Diploma qualified Educator at East Burwood Preschool, and have been working here since 2011.
Working with children was and still is a high learning experience for me. Every child is different, and part of what I love about my job is that I get to help each one discover his or her own strengths, and nurture these strengths through my educational approach.
Some other things I love doing away from kindergarten include spending time with family and friends. I have two teenage daughters and we love going on long drives and discovering the great outdoors. We also do lots of cooking and baking together.
