Developing a sense of wonder, enthusiasm and a love of learning in each child!

At Bunyip Kindergarten, we are proud of our 3 and 4 year old Kindergarten programs, tailored to meet the needs of the children in our groups. We nurture our children in a secure, happy and caring environment as they explore, discover and grow through play-based learning.

Our experienced Educators provide welcoming and irresistible play spaces that reflect the interests of the children and families at our centre. We strive to create a strong sense of community, while creating an environment where children feel safe, worthwhile and important.

Our Philosophy

We would like to acknowledge the Kurnai People as the traditional owners of this land on which we meet, work, play and build our community today.

We believe:

That emergent play based learning supports children becoming competent and confident learners. Our program aims to:

  • Support and enhance the potential of each child, providing for different learning styles.
  • Recognise the significance of play and the natural environment in promoting exploration and imagination, and the fundamental role these play in the importance of childhood, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Provide opportunities to explore and try new experiences, work on projects and construct their own understanding within a community of learners.

That the family is the child’s first teacher and through everyday conversations and regular interactions, we can form meaningful partnerships with families.

  • We respect families as the primary carers of children and encourage open communication between parents, educators and other services.
  • We aim to build on family and community ways of being, belonging and becoming to help children feel safe, secure, worthwhile and important.

Everyone should respect themselves, others and our environment.

  • Children are the future carers of our world, so we aim to create an environment that seeks to build a connection with and a sense of wonder with regard to nature, and concern for present and future sustainability.
  • Our planning and practice respects diversity and promotes discussion with children and experiences to recognise and respect differences, promoting an environment that is accepting and inclusive.

Ongoing and reflective practice is vital to ensure learning is relevant and meeting the individual needs of the group.

  • Our planning and practice follows the Early Years Learning Frameworks which aims to “provide young children with opportunities to maximise their potential and develop a foundation for future success in learning.”
  • Educators keep up to date with current research and knowledge, engaging with questions about philosophy, ethics and practice.
