Introducing the children to Aboriginal art

Welcome to Term 3!  We look forward to extending our project “Who are we?”

This term the project is focusing on children’s agency and involves the children as active participants in, and co-constructors of their learning. It will guide the children into becoming researchers and to identify our central idea of understanding the world we live in. As part of this project, our children are investigating our Armstrong Creek community. Robbie brought in ochre stones. Ochre comes in a rock formation which is found at sites around the area. Robbie taught us how to crush the rock into powder and mixing to a paste form with water to make paint.

It was such a great opportunity for our children to develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and respect. Thank you, Robbie and Jess, for providing all the children with this amazing cultural experience. We can’t wait to do it again. It was amazing!
