I have been working in Family Day Care for three years but have been educating children since 2004. I hold a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood and I originally began my career in New Zealand. Once my husband and I married, we packed our belongings and moved to Australia, making Melbourne our home.
I believe that giving children time to grow, learn and experience life in a non-rushed, relaxed, safe and loving environment is an important foundation for future development. Here, children will be involved in a play-based learning program that supports their interests and allows them to be active agents in their own learning and development. Open ended play experiences offered will allow for self-selection and shared learning as well as encouraging your child to use their imagination, solve and work through problems, think creatively, explore, take on different perspectives, make choices and have a sense of wonder, excitement and anticipation.
I love being able to nurture and educate a smaller group of children which means I’m able to form strong bonds with them and their families. It is a joy to have such strong relationships with families. Many of them I am still in contact with after they leave and some have come back with siblings. Working alongside the families, my house has become an extension of their home and I have built some wonderful strong relationships and shared in special family milestones with them. Having these relationships helps strengthen a child’s sense of belonging, identity and enhances their learning.
