My name is Maria and I have been working in the childcare industry for over 30 years! My passion for working with children began in my teen years when completing work experience in a kindergarten. It was then that I learnt how families, culture, the environment and educators have a significant impact on a child’s growth and development. I knew then that I wanted to be part of this growth and development. Following my dream I then graduated with a diploma in children’s services. I am currently in my 25th year of Family Day Care.
It is in Family Day Care that my strengths as an educator thrive. I love guiding young children to be the best they can be and to achieve the best possible outcomes. I love the small family unit where I can plan a curriculum around the children’s interest, abilities and needs, to fulfill, enhance and extend their learning outcomes.
I also love the work ethics we have; starting from our management team, coordinators, and colleagues.
My program incorporates a balance of indoor and outdoor play spaces which are warm and inviting, allowing opportunities for creativity and learning. We also go on regular outings including: playgroup, bush playgroup, local parks, farms, zoos and more. These excursions are used to facilitate and extend learning.
