“18 nappies in 15 minutes!” she exclaimed, laughing. High fives ensued from the other educators.
This was the moment I decided that working in long day care was not for me.
Never again do I want to see babies or children treated as a ‘production line’.
Are you looking for an educator who will:
*Communicate authentically with your child? Including asking questions of and acknowledging even the youngest of babies’ responses.
*Invite your child to be an active participant in caregiving activities such as nappy change and feeding?
*Encourage self-directed play without needless interruptions, and who will trust that your child’s play choices are just perfect as they are?
*Offer free play and movement opportunities in an enriching environment to allow motor and cognitive skills to develop organically, rather than be ‘taught’?
*Acknowledge effort without needing to over-praise, so as to promote your child’s intrinsic motivation and inner-directedness?
*Encourage your child to express their emotions by openly accepting and acknowledging them?
*Be your child’s confident, empathetic leader who will set clear boundaries without shaming, distracting, punishing or using time-outs?
*Allow your child to problem solve, and experience and learn from age appropriate conflicts with ‘arms reach’ support?
*Lead by example by modelling positive messages about love, relationships, empathy, generosity, gratitude, patience, tolerance, kindness, honesty and respect?
I want your child to learn about themselves, their abilities and their worth, and their place in my ‘family’ and in the world.
I am passionate about working with you to raise your child to be competent, confident, curious, attentive, cooperative, secure, peaceful, focused, self-initiating, resourceful, involved, inner-directed, aware and interested.
I completed my diploma in early childhood education in April 2018 and since then my husband and I have been busy creating a space that is perfect to facilitate play between our 4 year old boy Tyson, and 3 more children. Maybe you would like to come and see?
Breakfast, morning and afternoon tea, and late snack are provided so just bring along a sandwich and a water bottle. Families will need to provide formula and bottles, aswell as nappies.
My program will always be based around the interests of the children in my care each day so you can be assured that there will always be something to bring a smile to your child’s face. Painting, water play, ball sports, train tracks, puzzles, dress ups, musical instruments, sing-a-longs, books with matching character props, dramatic play, giant chalk, scooters and ride-ons galore and much much more!
