At Armstrong Creek East Children’s Centre, our practice is driven by the belief that early childhood should be an exciting adventure, full of wonder, imagination, and open-ended play.
We take pride in providing a warm and friendly environment where children and families feel welcome. We strongly believe in developing a sense of community within the pre-school and building trusting and collaborative partnerships with families. We value the involvement of parents and believe a close relationship between home and pre-school instills in children a sense of security and belonging. The social and emotional wellbeing of every child is paramount.
Children’s interests, capabilities and learning styles are at the forefront of the thoughtful planning and resourcing that underpin our programs. We respect, nurture and celebrate the individual differences of every child and support their development within an inclusive learning environment.
We know children to be capable, inquisitive and creative and believe in acknowledging them as agents of their own learning. Through the provision of unique spaces, resources and programs that encourage and support social interaction, children learn how to inquire, negotiate, take risks and express themselves.
The pre-school’s physical location allows us to engage in rich learning opportunities that connect the children to their natural environment, and their close-knit, nurturing neighbourhood.
Our educators share with parents, the excitement and responsibility of making pre-school a successful experience for everyone. They are committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice so that the best possible outcomes for each and every child are achieved.
Frequently Asked Questions
What programs are running at the service?
Funded Kindergarten programs, and Early Education and Care programs for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age, are offered at our brand new, state of the art service.
These programs include specialist learning spaces that provide a rich, project-based approach to learning, where children of all ages and developmental stages can build meaningful relationships with key educators. Families can be confident that the program and experiences not only satisfy, but exceed, the requirements for funded Kindergarten. Our early education and care program is available for those families wishing to attend a 3-year-old program and will include access to the services’ specialist learning experiences and spaces.
Our programs are influenced by several philosophies and theories in early education, including Reggio Emilia, Victorian Early Learning and Development Framework, Early Years Learning Framework, Education through Nature, Education through Sustainability and Resources for Infant Educators (RIE) – all of which are recognised worldwide for their innovation when respecting and promoting rich learning environments for children, families and educators. The environment and program at Armstrong Creek East will seek to reflect the understanding of ‘relational learning’. This means that all children learn through their connections with people, places, materials and the ideas they encounter. For more information about our vision and program influences, click here.
