Volunteer Celebration

Volunteers are the backbone of bestchance.

Throughout the many years, bestchance has always relied on volunteers. This morning, the current volunteers of bestchance came together to celebrate their hard work and dedication, for National Volunteer Weeks’s, Volunteer Recognition Morning Tea.

Laughter echoed down the corridor of the Glen Waverley Children’s Centre as volunteers who have given their time, their love and their dedication to bestchance services talked and laughed together. The morning commenced with an address from Saul Ryan, Chairman of the Board who thanked all those who ensured that bestchance could continue providing outstanding services to the community. Applause filled the room as each volunteer stood to receive their certificate, commemorating the time their hard work and commitment. Once the formalities concluded, the volunteers were content to socialise and share stories, some having known each other for years, some eager to meet new people.

The Volunteer Recognition Morning Tea was organised through the tireless work of Shweta, who prior to beginning work in the Volunteers department, worked as a volunteer herself. Volunteers grouped together to listen to the stories of their fellow volunteers, reminiscing about their time spent with bestchance. With volunteer opportunities in kindergartens, maintenance and gardening, administration, community support and many more – the group gathered were a vibrant mix from all across the organisation, and Melbourne.

With so many volunteer positions available in a range of different programs, volunteering is the perfect way to give back to the community, or gain experience for employment. Many of those who volunteer with bestchance find employment through the organisation or through external companies. Those who are volunteering to contribute to the community, find that the volunteers team is like a family, and choose to stay on for years.

Whatever the reason, if you are interested in joining our team of volunteers, please call 1300 224 644. Volunteering offers people new experiences and skills, as well as a platform from which they make a valuable contribution to their community. Indeed, bestchance would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every single volunteer. Without your dedication and selflessness, we would not be able to provide support and services to those in need.
