Meet Judy: New Family Day Care Educator

Judy recently began her journey as a Family Day Care Educator.

With a three year old child, and Diploma of Children’s Services, Judy approached bestchance for guidance about her future career, having been recommended to the organisation through her daughter’s educator.

Although nervous at the prospect of her new career, working with the bestchance Family Day Care team allowed Judy to gain the, “confidence to believe in her new enterprise.” Offering help, guidance, “and lots of positive feedback,” bestchance’s Kerri guided Judy through the process.

Judy tells us that the most rewarding aspect of her work is, “building relationships and connections with children, getting to know them, play with them, and grow and learn with them.” As a Family Day Care Educator, working every day with young children will allow Judy to observe and guide them in their growth.

Already working as an Educator at an Early Years Learning Centre, Judy has much experience with teaching children through play, and engaging them in exciting activities. Asked if she has any advice for those considering entering the Early Years Learning profession, Judy’s response was that, “Children learn how to engage in a group of similar aged children. This is the best way they start learning social skills.” She also recommended to parents of young children that, “It’s best to let a child attend FDC for at least 2 consecutive days,” this is to allow them to form social connections and learn routine.

Her favourite memory of working with children is, “watching as they learn new skills and conquer a challenge”. She also says that the affection the children share with their Educators is endearing and that receiving, “their cuddles and hugs,” fills her with joy.

Already highly established in various fields, Judy holds her Bachelor of Science (Psychology and Human Resource) and her Masters in Finance. Holding positions in customer service, retail, the telecommunication sector, Judy has also worked as a home carer for aged or disabled persons. Working with children has offered her a wealth of new experiences, and she is excited for the future.

bestchance welcomes Judy, who runs Judy’s Family Day Care in Wantirna, and looks forward to a continuing partnership promoting the growth and development of young children. With a wealth of experience working with, and teaching, young children, Judy’s kindness, patience and expertise will be sure to make her an excellent Family Day Care Educator.
