Arena Child and Family Centre (2 Curran Drive, Officer) was officially opened today (Wednesday 26 April) by Cardinia Shire Council Mayor Cllr Brett Owen and Daniel Mulino MP (State Member of Parliament – Eastern Victoria Region).
MC for the opening was Cardinia Shire Councils General Manager, Community Wellbeing Ms Jenny Scicluna. Cllr Liticia Willmot and CEO Garry McQuillian were among the guests along with Pamela Martin – Manager Community Services, Cheryl Casey – Team Leader Children’s Services and a number of children’s services officers.
Cardinia Shire Council was successful in getting a Department of Education and Training capital grant of $600,000 towards the building cost of $2.2milllion. Dale Cohen was appointed as architect and S&B Lamble awarded the building contract. Works commenced in July 2015 and the centre was operational at the start of 2017.
bestchance is the approved provider of the early learning and care service and were represented at the opening by senior management including CEO Mr Kevin Feeney, General Manger Early Years – Tracey McKay and General Manager Education and Training – David Greenwood.
Kevin Feeney said he was very impressed with the facility but more so with the enthusiasm and vision of Cardinia Shire and looking forward to working with them and local community.
bestchance currently offers 4 year old funded kindergarten, 3 year old pre kinder and extended after care to about 100 families. bestchance is consulting with the community to establish and run additional support services and training courses for families from the centre. The centre also has Maternal and Child Health consultation room and a community room that is utilised by a number of community groups and facilitated playgroups.
