Suitable for:
This nationally recognised qualification is delivered part-time and is aimed at people who are working or wish to work with children. This course involves the use of organisational policies, procedures and individual children’s profiles to plan activities and provide care to children, facilitating their leisure and play and enabling them to achieve their developmental outcomes. Depending on the setting, workers may work under direct supervision or autonomously.
Career Opportunities:
This qualification opens up a whole world of opportunity for students and can lead to employment as a child care assistant, family day carer, nanny or child care worker (unqualified).

Selection Criteria:
An interview will be conducted to ensure that applicants possess the motivation to complete the course and have an aptitude for childcare work.
Course Length:
14 week course - Two days per week for 14 weeks
10 week course - Two days per week for 10 weeks
Evening Course - Two evenings per week + 5 Saturdays for 19 weeks
(10 week course and evening courses are directed towards people with prior knowledge of the industry)
Commencement Dates:
14 week course Monday and Tuesday - 6 February - 15 May 2012 (9:30am - 3:00pm)
10 week course Wednesday and Thursday - 28 February - 10 May 2012 (9:30am - 3:00pm)
Evening Course Tuesday and Thursday + 5 Saturdays - 28 February - 17 July 2012
(Evenings 6.30pm - 9.30pm and Saturdays 9:00am - 3:00pm)
Assessment:
Assessments are undertaken using a variety of methods including, observation, written assignments/projects, case studies, scenarios, role plays, oral/written questions and work placement tasks.
